"Under a ruby robe of great depth with bluish hues, this wine harmoniously combines notes of dark fruits (blackberry, blueberry) with a floral side dominated mainly by violet. The whole maintains a round and dense texture with silky tannins."

"Cabernet is an important part of Charmail's bouquet. Naturally, it works in tandem with Merlot, adding spiciness to both the nose and the palate. The wine is compact, inviting, and supported by beautiful creamy tannins that add dimension across the entire palate, while the acidic structure enlivens the finish. An elegant, vibrant, and refined wine. Drink between 2027 and 2042."

From vine to wine

Viticulture

The vines of Charmail faced a challenging 2022 season, marked by a hailstorm that affected part of the crop. Despite this setback, the remaining parcels benefited from meticulous management and a gradual shift toward organic farming. Techniques such as manual leaf thinning and green harvesting were used to concentrate flavors and enhance the quality of the grapes.

Harvest

The harvest took place from September 19 to 29, 2022, under clear skies that allowed for picking the clusters at their optimal ripeness. Each bunch was carefully hand-selected to ensure that only the finest grapes were vinified, reflecting the unique potential of this vintage.

Vinification

Vinification was carried out at low temperatures to preserve the purity of the aromas. Gentle extractions helped reveal the complexity of the grape varieties. The final blend combines the juicy richness of Merlot with the firm structure of Cabernet-Sauvignon, while Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc bring additional aromatic nuances.

Aging

82% of the production was aged for 12 months in 500-liter barrels, 50% of which were new oak. This method softens the tannins while imparting subtle notes of vanilla and caramel. The remaining 18% was aged in 17-hectoliter concrete egg-shaped vats, promoting natural micro-oxygenation for pure, vibrant fruit.
